How to Liquidate Visa and Mastercard Gift Cards
The first step to liquidating your Visa and Mastercard gift cards is to set a PIN, so you can use it as a debit card. Usually this is done by either calling the number on the back of the gift card, or by entering a PIN the first time you use the gift card. Note that many people have had more trouble setting a PIN and doing PIN-based transactions with Mastercard gift cards than with Visa gift cards.
After setting a PIN, the most popular place to liquidate Visa and Mastercard gift cards is through the Walmart Money Center. It's in a special area of Walmart and usually consists of an automated kiosk and a staffed service desk. You might have remembered when I mentioned PIN-based methods in the sections about reload cards and prepaid debit cards. While it's a place to liquidate Visa and Mastercard gift cards, the Walmart Money Center is also useful for liquidating prepaid debit cards. Here are the three main ways to liquidate Visa gift cards at the Walmart Money Center.
- Loading Bluebird and Gobank
- Walmart bill pay
- Money orders
